KNOWLEDGE INTO ACTION
The Knowledge into Action (K2A) research theme brings together a multidisciplinary group of academics, researchers and PhD students all conducting research related to the translation of evidence into practice with the aim of improving both the delivery of healthcare to patients and broader public health outcomes. The research theme consists of health services researchers, social scientists and public health specialists from ScHARR. We have expertise in different methodological approaches to the study of knowledge translation and implementation, both qualitative and quantitative, and we strive to advance innovative methods for the study of knowledge mobilisation.
Sheffield aDDICTIONS research Group
The Sheffield Addictions Research Group is an international centre of excellence for public health research on alcohol, tobacco, and gambling.
Our research plays a central role in current policy and public debate.
In particular, our Sheffield Alcohol Policy Model has provided a key evidence base for debates around minimum unit pricing, brief interventions and low risk drinking guidelines in the UK and internationally.
Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams (PHIRST)
Funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), Public Health Research (PHR) Programme. Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams provide timely and accessible evaluations of public health interventions to local authorities.
Ellie Holding, a member of the evaluation hub team, works as part of PHIRST to deliver evaluations of local authority interventions in collaboration with practice partners. Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare (CATCH)
The Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare (CATCH) is a translational research centre. We harness new technology to enable people to live well and age well.
Our aim is to make a significant and lasting contribution to the quality of life and independence of the growing number of people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. The University of Sheffield has recognised the need for research in this area and has invested funds to develop the centre and research into assistive technology and telehealth.
